At about 6:45p.m. Friday, Guillermo Damian Nuņez, 32, then took the money from the Chevron gas station on 18th and A Avenue and ran out of the store.
One witness, according to police, ran after Nuņez, said Det. Armando Cruz of the Douglas Police Department.
Douglas police, however, were just a few blocks away and searched the area and found Nuņez on Bonita Avenue, between 17th and 18th Street, Cruz said.
Nuņez was brought back to the gas station, where another witness, along with the one who had chased Nuņez, identified him as the armed robber.
Nuņez, of 338 Coronado Courts, was transported to the Cochise County Jail and charged with armed robbery, a class 2 felony, Cruz said.
As of yet, police do not know how much money Nuņez took from the cash register, Cruz said.
Investigators believe he may have dropped the money and changed clothing shortly after the robbery.
