"They asked questions about different issue about the golf course," said City Manager Mike Ortega.
The city is soliciting bids for the Douglas Municipal Golf Course and is hoping that more bids are generated.
The deadline for placing a bid on the course is Feb. 9, 2006.
The minimum bid for the golf course is $100,000 cash.
"The golf course is not for sale for a hundred thousand dollars," Ortega said. "You have to come to the table with at least three point one million ($3.1 million) in improvements to the golf course."
Some residents were under the impression that the golf course could be bought for $100,000.
The $100,000 is the amount the purchaser has to provide in cash up front.
The remaining $3 million minimum is to be used for improvements and repairs, he said.
Other conditions exist such as that the course be open to the public after every fourth tee and that the fees do no exceed the average price in the county.
The city benefits in many ways. Whoever buys the course would have to make these improvements that local residents and golfers would enjoy at the purchasers cost.
If the buyer of the course should defaults on the contract, he or she would forfeit any investment and the city would take ownership of the golf course, he said.
