The 2006 Fourth of July celebration is anticipated to be an all out entertainment event.

The celebration will go from Sunday through Monday and will highlight seven local and out of state bands, lots of fireworks and a comedian.

"We're expecting lots of people, especially from out of town to arrive in Douglas," said Charles Ebner, community development director for the City of Douglas.

In 2005, people from around the county attended Douglas' Fourth of July celebration, which coincided with the city's centennial.

City staff is designing this year's event to be just as fun-filled and entertaining as the following year, Ebner said.

One of the big draws is the nationally know comedian Carlos Oscar, who has made a guest appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

The headlining band "Shining Star" will perform at the celebration.

Jodi Light, the lead singer of the band, had been performing since the age of two. Her new CD, "I am Right Here," was released in Feb., 2003.

"Overall, we're going to have a variety of music and entertainment for all age groups," Ebner said.
