WILLCOX - Life is just peachy at Apple Annie's Orchard as it prepares for the ninth annual Peach Mania Festival.

There will be peach favorites to satisfy young and old with pick-your-own tree-ripened peaches, homemade peach ice cream and pies, and the famous "Peaches and Pancakes" breakfast.

The event will run five consecutive weekends, this Saturday and Sunday, July 29-30, Aug. 5-6, Aug. 12-13 and Aug. 19-20; the weekend of Aug. 5-6 crafters from around Arizona will set up in the orchard for a "Country Craft Fair."

The "All-You-Can-Eat" Peaches and Pancakes breakfast, an annual tradition for many, will be served each festival morning from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by Apple Annie's apple-smoked burger lunches served from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

There will also be a sample tent, where visitors can taste peach treats, from fudge to salsa.

Willcox peach grower John Holcomb has been working long days since February getting the peach trees ready for this year's crop, but you won't hear him complaining.

"It is worth every minute of work," says Holcomb, "because nothing compares to a fresh tree-ripened peach."

The 2006 Peach Mania Festival will benefit the Southern Arizona Lupus Foundation, Andrea's Closet and Youth Haven Desert Ranch. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to these organizations, with over $25,000 being donated over the last five years.

Take Interstate 10 to Willcox, turn onto Fort Grant Road, drive for 5.5 miles and turn right at the Apple Annie's sign, then follow the apple signs. For more information, visit appleannies.com or call (520) 384-2084.
