Center to present at Douglas breakfast

DOUGLAS - For the past decade, the Cochise College Center for Economic Research has hosted an annual economic focus luncheon in Douglas.

The event has been held in September of each year.

In an effort to better bring the information presented at the luncheon to Douglas business and community leaders, the mayor and the city of Douglas have launched an initiative to host an economic focus breakfast. The initiative is in response to concerns that the time, duration, and cost of the CER's economic focus luncheons may preclude many local business and community leaders from attending.

This year, the city's economic focus breakfast will replace the annual economic focus luncheon previously hosted by the CER. The Douglas economic focus luncheon will not be held this year. The breakfast will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 7, at the Douglas Visitors Center. A continental breakfast will be provided to attendees free of charge.

Speakers at the event include Victor Gonzalez, Douglas economic development director; Karen Nicodemus, president of Cochise College; and Robert Carreira, the center's director.

The center will continue to produce the annual Douglas Perspective publication, which the city of Douglas will provide to breakfast attendees free of charge.

Since the city of Douglas will be hosting this event, the center will not be soliciting sponsorships as it has in previous years. Any sponsorship funds already submitted to the CER for this year's Douglas economic focus luncheon will be returned.

For reservations or more information about the event, please contact the city of Douglas Economic Development Office at (520) 805-4047.
