Douglas corrections officer arrested Friday for possession of cocaine By XAVIER ZARAGOZA/The Daily DispatchDouglas police arrested an Arizona Department of Corrections officer in connection with sale and possession of narcotics. Renee Dias, 29, of Douglas, was arrested at the Douglas Prison complex Friday afternoon, said Officer Marcus Gonzales, the public information officer for the Douglas Police Department. Police served a search warrant at Dias' home and seized 227.5 grams of cocaine that has a street value of over $5,000, Gonzales said. Dias was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police also seized an electronic weight scale and other drug paraphernalia, he said. Gonzales was transported to the Cochise County Jail in Bisbee. On September 15, 2006 at approximately 2:55 p.m., Detectives of the Douglas Police Department served a narcotics search warrant at a residence in Douglas and arrested an Arizona Department of Corrections Officer. Detectives arrested Renee Diaz, DOB 11-30-76, for possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics for sale, and possession of drug paraphernalia, all of which are felonies in the State of Arizona. Detectives arrested Renee Diaz at the Arizona State Prison Complex in Douglas while he was working. During the execution of the search warrant, detectives also seized 227.5 grams of cocaine, having an estimated street value of over $5,000.00, along with an electronic weight scale and other drug paraphernalia as evidence. Renee Diaz was transported to the Cochise County Jail where he will await arraignment. |
