At 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2006, a groundbreaking ceremony for the Douglas Dialysis center will be taking place and the entire Douglas community is invited.

The land for where the center will be located was obtained by the Southeast Arizona Medical Center from the city of Douglas. The property will be leased out to the Dialysis Center, Inc.

The ceremony will be held outside and is expected to last no more than an hour. Light refreshments will be served to those who attend.

Representatives from the city, county, Board of Directors, and the Dialysis Center, Inc. will be speaking at the Friday event.

The Center is anticipated to be complete by next Spring. Exact dates for the grand opening will be announced on Friday.

A proclamation from Governor Napolitano will be read during the ceremony to thank and praise the community for all of the support and donations that have made this project possible.

Cochise College will be donating chairs and tents for this event.

The Southeast Arizona Medical Center and the Dialysis Center, Inc wish to thank everyone for their support, and warmly welcome the entire community to attend Friday's groundbreaking event.

The Douglas visitor center is offering parking and a free shuttle to the event, which will be held at 99 West 16th Street, which is the site of the former McDonald's.

Social time begins at 5:00 p.m.
