When travelers come into Douglas, the first stop they make is at the Visitor's Center west of Douglas.

The staff there provides information to visitors about the local scene, shopping, hotels, and restaurants and about traveling into Agua Prieta.

The center has been open since about July 2004 and it gets about 40 people a week from all over the world.

The center itself is also something to look at. The ceiling has a stained glass dome. The west wall has a mural that depicts different stages of Douglas history. The floor is made of marble tile.

The Visitor's Center has a large conference room that is 2,777 square feet and can be divided into two rooms with a divider.

The conference room now provides space for people who want to have meetings or conventions in Douglas.

The hours at the Visitor's Center are Monday through Friday from 8a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The staff members are Jinny Jordan and Erick Chavez.

The contact number for the Visitor's Center is 364-2478.
