Calling student artists for poster contest

DOUBLE ADOBE- "Conservation - Good for Everyone!" is the theme of a poster contest sponsored by the Nimon S. Hopkins Conservation Education Center. All student artists in Douglas, Bisbee, Elfrida, Naco, Double Adobe, McNeal and Apache can compete for numerous prizes donated by area merchants.


Grades 9-12 first place prize will be a $25 Wal-Mart gift certificate, Second Place is a free oil change from Southern Arizona Auto and third place two tee-shirts and ball caps from Southern Arizona Auto.

First Place prize for Gr. 4-8 will be a $15 Wal-Mart Gift Certificate; second place, two ball caps from Ortega's Sportsworld and third place a kid's lassoo from High Lonesome Feeds.

First place for Gr. K-3 will be a $10 Wal-Mart gift certificate; second place a metallic blue Chevy pick up truck model from Southern Arizona Auto and third place a tee-shirt from the Gadsen Hotel.

Fourth place prizes for all groups will be will be burger meal gift certificates from Sonic Drive-In.

Consolation prizes will be given by the Nimon S. Hopkins Conservation Education Center.

Entry Deadline is December 20, 2006. Entries must have the student's name, grade, school and teacher on the back and be on standard poster board (22"x28).

Highest scores will be awarded posters that best illustrate how people can help the environment through Conservation of Water, Soil, Vegetation and/or Animal Habitat.

Entries can be delivered in person to the education center at the former Double Adobe School, 7081 N. Central Highway, McNeal, Az. 85617 or mailed to the Nimon S. Hopkins Conservation Education Center at P.O. Box 208, Douglas, AZ 85608.

Winners will be announced to the schools on January 3, 2007.
