The City of Douglas will be working on various projects over the coming week. The work is being completed by the City of Douglas Public Works Department and is part of the Mayor and Council's ongoing infrastructure improvement program.

Beginning Monday, January 22, 2007, through Friday, January 26, 2007, crews will pave 11th Street between G Avenue and H Avenue. Concrete work will be done on 12th Street between Pan American and G Avenue. There will be paving at the Golf Course parking area. Throughout the City there will be miscellaneous concrete repairs, pothole patching, and cleanup as well.

There will be 6-inch service tap and 6-inch watermain installation on 18th Street and Estrella Avenue. Expect street closures from 19th Street to 17th Street on Estrella Avenue (re-routed traffic). Four-inch valves will be replaced on the 600 block of 8th Street. Expect street closure from F Avenue to E Avenue on 8th Street. New water service installation will take place on 17 - Pirtle Avenue. Equipment and men working signs will be set up (not a street closure).

Water personnel may be working on Emergency Repairs to the Water Distribution System, if the cold weather continues. Caution must be taken around all work sites and please obey all traffic signs.

Christmas trees can be picked up by calling the Public Works Department at 805-4077, or by dropping the tree off at the recycling section of the Transfer Station. Trees can also be put in the alley by the resident's trash receptacles. If you should have any problems with water and/or sewer services on the weekend or a holiday, please contact the Douglas Police Department at 364-8422 and staff on call will be dispatched to your residence.

The City of Douglas asks that you please use caution while driving or walking through these construction zones. Please help keep everyone safe.
