DOUGLAS - About 40 people showed up Saturday morning for free flu vaccines during a Cochise County Health Department drill.
The object of the drill was to research how quickly county medical personnel can administer such vaccines, testing the department's preparedness in case of some pandemic, county spokeswoman Karla Jensen said. The vaccines, for those who participated in the drill, were free and available to those 18 and older. About 60 vaccine doses were leftover, but Jensen said there probably won't be another drill like Saturday's until the next flu season.
"It was pretty steady," she said. "We might look into doing one next flu season, but probably earlier in the season."
But even though the flu season's peak has passed, vaccinations are still a good idea, she said.
