Dane Patrick Lotten, 21, allegedly assaulted his 20-year-old girlfriend in the parking lot and threatened another person nearby with a shotgun, according to a police report. Lotten was arrested at 3:49 p.m. during a traffic stop near his home and was allegedly in possession of four counterfeit bills - three $20s and a $50 - when he was taken into custody.
Lotten was booked into the Cochise County Jail with bond set at $20,000, Cochise County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carol Capas said. He is charged with four counts of possessing a forged instrument, criminal damage, prohibited possession of a weapon by a felon, and domestic violence involving assault, she said.
The Sierra Vista Street Crimes Unit declined further comment regarding the counterfeit money investigation as it relates to Lotten at this time.
There have been several incidents already this month involving counterfeit money, and a counterfeit-related arrest was made Jan. 19 by Sierra Vista police in connection with several incidents.
