Bisbee Community Chorus Joins Tucson Symphony Orchestra in Concert

Published/Last Modified on Saturday, February 3, 2007 11:46 AM MST

The Tucson Symphony Orchestra will travel to Bisbee to perform "Enchanting Russia" on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 7:00 pm. The Bisbee Community Chorus, under the direction of Lori Keyne, will join the orchestra for selections from John Rutter's "Requiem." The concert will be held at Bisbee High School, 675 School Terrace Road in Bisbee, Arizona.

Music Director and Conductor George Hanson will conduct the Tucson Symphony Orchestra in Sergei Prokofiev's "Classical Symphony, Op. 25." The orchestra will also present music by Anton Rubinstein, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Anatol Liadov.

This is the fifth year the two musical organizations have collaborated in a community concert. An important component of these concerts is attracting students to classical music. 250 tickets will be made available for free to the K-12 students of Cochise County. Tickets for adults are available at the bargain price of $10.00. Tickets for the same concert in Tucson are $30.00. The Chorus is able to provide this wonderful experience at this great price with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, Arizona Commission on the Arts, Cochise Community Foundation, Bisbee Foundation, and the City of Bisbee.

Tickets are available in advance from chorus members and in Bisbee at Atalanta's Music & Books, Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum, Bisbee Visitor Center, Bisbee Chamber of Commerce and Bisbee Office Supply. They are also available at FYE at the Mall at Sierra Vista and at Bee Health-E in Douglas. Schools may contact Bob Fry at (520) 432-2121 or fryvista@theriver.com for information on the student ticket distribution. Students should obtain their free symphony passes through their school. Children K-8 must be accompanied by paying adults.

For more information please contact Ruth Dugie of the Bisbee Community Chorus at (520) 432-3523 or email bisbeechorus@cableone.net.
