Lady Bulldogs rally to beat Amphi 6-2

TUCSON - The Douglas Lady Bulldogs overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat the Amphi Lady Panthers 6-2 Wednesday in a non-conference showdown.


Trista Campbell was the winning pitcher. She went the distance, gave up two runs off nine hits, fanned nine and walked four.

Amphi tagged Campbell for two runs off four hits in the bottom half of the first taking a 2-0 lead.

Douglas came back and tied it in the fourth scoring two runs off one hit.

In the fifth the Lady Bulldogs rallied for four runs off four hits taking a 6-2 lead.

Douglas had 10 hits in the game. Katie Campbell hit 2 for 4, Erika Tapia 2 for 5, Alexis Quintana 2 for 4, Stephanie Ybarra 1 for 3, Lina Campbell 1 for 3 and Trista Campbell and Jennifer Salazar each were 1 for 4.

Douglas' softball coach Abe Grijalva said at first it didn't seem as if his team was ready to play but the Lady Bulldogs woke up in the middle innings and put together some key hits scoring six runs and coming away with the win.

Douglas, 7-2, will host Rincon today at 4 p.m. at Douglas High School.
