Gas prices up across the county

According to the Cochise College Center for Economic Research's latest biweekly survey of gas prices, conducted during the week of April 9, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Cochise County increased to $2.88 from $2.71 over the two-week period. According to AAA Arizona, the statewide price rose from $2.76 to $2.90. Nationally, according to the Energy Information Administration, gas prices increased from $2.61 to $2.80 during the two-week period.


In Benson, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline increased from $2.77 to $2.91 per gallon. In Bisbee, the price increased during the two-week period from $2.72 to $2.86 per gallon. The price in Douglas rose from $2.68 to $2.84 per gallon. In Huachuca City, the price increased from $2.69 to $2.91 per gallon. In Sierra Vista, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline increased to $2.86 from $2.68. In Tombstone, the price increased during the two-week period from $2.77 to $2.90. Willcox saw gas prices go up from $2.71 to $2.92 during the two-week period.

One year ago, the nationwide average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline, according to the EIA, was $2.68, which is 12 cents less than its current price. At the state level, according to AAA Arizona, the price a year ago was $2.42, which is 48 cents less than the current price per gallon. At the county level, according to the CER survey, the price a year ago was $2.64, which is 24 cents less than the price from the most recent survey.
