Join us for a potluck and bonfire to demonstrate primitive pit-firing pottery techniques and celebrate the Beltane Festival, an ancient celebration of the coming of summer and the element of fire. El Paso Holocaust Studies Trip

Departs Douglas Campus: 4:40 a.m.

Returns to Douglas Campus: 9:30 p.m.

Led by Social/Behavioral Sciences Department Chair Dave Pettes, this trip for students, faculty and staff includes a visit with Henry Kellen, Holocaust survivor, international speaker and founder of the El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center. The tentative itinerary includes "What it Means to be a Jew" by Rabbi Steven Leon, presentations on the causes of the Holocaust, presentations by one or more survivors, discussion of the German view of the Holocaust by the commanding general of the German Air Force Units in the U.S. and Canada, a kosher Mexican lunch, and a brief visit to the temporary museum.
