With all the focus on softball this week and the University of Arizona as well as a former Lady Bulldog trying to get to the Women's College World Series it's only fitting another former Lady Bulldog is moving on to the collegiate level.

Former Douglas High School softball pitcher Trista Campbell signs her scholarship papers to South Mountain Community College in Phoenix earlier this week. Pitcher Trista Campbell signed full-ride scholarship papers to South Mountain Community College earlier this week choosing South Mountain over Eastern Arizona and Gateway Community College.

After winning 20 games last year Campbell was 12-12 this year and finishing with 39 career wins breaking the old record of 29 set by former Lady Bulldog Claudia Lopez who won a national championship with San Angelo State University a division two school in Texas.

Campbell has been invited to represent the South in the Arizona Coaches Association All Star gAme June 7 in Surprise, Ariz.

Trista did a great job for our program the last three years," Douglas High School softball coach Abe Grijalva said.It just shows that we have quality players in our program. Our players can continue to play at the next level get an education and represent our program well as other players have done and continue to do so."
