Huachuca Art Association announces winning artists

The First Annual Spring Juried Fine Art Show held at the Palms Event Center in Sierra Vista showcased 58 entries by the area's multi-talented artists. The Huachuca Art Association members would like to gratefully thank the following judges for their time and careful consideration of all the entries; Nationally acclaimed artist, Mr. Michael Stack, Ms. Mina Tang of the Tang Gallery, Ms. Sally Brock of the Twist Gallery and Ms. Lue Ann Nelson of Belleza Gallery.


The HAA would also like to acknowledge the hospitality of the Palms Event Center and their staff and the generous donations of prizes from the following local and national businesses; Jerry's Artarama, Watercolor Magic, The Pastel Journal, The Verano Fine Art Gallery, The Dick Blick Art Supply Co., The Jack Richeson Company, Cheap Joes Art, Ace Hardware, The Letson Loft Hotel, The Mesquite Tree Restaurant, Atalantis Books and Music, The Tucson Museum of Art, Graphic Dimensions and We Frame It and Southwest Art Magazine.

This first annual fine art show featured five categories with winners for First, Second, and Third Place and special Awards of Merit. The Best of Show winner was Charles Thomas for his oil painting titled, "Horses of the San Rafael". Winners of the acrylic category were; 1st - Angus Bowie Wilson, 2nd - Jane Pitts, 3rd - Gail Fisher and Awards of Merit were given to Joanne Berry and Roderick Stevens. Winners of the Mixed Media category were; 1st - William Spencer, 2nd - Harlan White and 3rd - Sandra Lee Bolda. Winners of the Pastel category were; 1st - and 2nd place - Edie Manion, 3rd - Patricia Mathes with Awards of Merit given to Anne Martin and Trilby Arnold. Winners of the oil category were 1st - Charles Thomas, 2nd Sydney Brown and 3rd - Fred Wackerle. Winners of the fifth category, Watercolor were; 1st Edith Austin, 2nd Carol Reilly and 3rd - Angus Bowie Wilson with an Award of Merit given to Patricia Dunbar.

The Huachuca Art Association would also like to thank the community of Sierra Vista for their continued support of this non-profit organization and encourage everyone to come and enjoy the monthly shows held at 3818 Astro Street Gallery in Hereford. The Gallery is open each Thursday - Sunday from noon to 4:00p.m.
