Termite post season tourney begins with Ticks downing the Asps 7-6

Termite tournament action got underway Monday night as the Thomas Ticks knocked off the Quick Cash Asps 7-6 in first round action.


Christian Ballesteros was the winning pitcher fanning 12 batters.

Jesus Bustamante took the loss fanning 11.

The Asps scored twice in the top of the first taking a brief 2-0 lead but then surrendered six runs in the bottom half of the inning to trail 6-2.

Two run rallies by the Asps in the second and fourth innings allowed them to battle back and tie the game at 6-6. The Ticks won it with a run in the bottom of the sixth.

Ballesteros hit 2 for 3 for the Ticks while Joe Salcido was 1 for 2 and Edson Espinosa and Elzy Estrella each were 1 for 3.

Alexis Medina hit 4 for 4 for the Asps while Jesus Bustamante was 3 for 3, Andres Hoyos 2 for 2, Jose Pena 1 for 3 and Diego Saldate 1 for 4.

According to information from league officials today's games have the Asps vs. the Beetles at 5 p.m. followed by the Spiders vs. the Black widows at 7 p.m.

Correction:

In the weekend edition the score of the Asps game with the Fleas was incorrectly reported as 10-0. The correct score was 10-9.
