The Douglas Fire Department typically launches 40 fireworks shells within 20. This year, working with a bigger budget, the firefighters will launch 100 shells in 20 minutes, thus making the 2007 Fourth of July one of the most thrilling since 2005's centennial festival.

The firefighters will begin to set up the fireworks at Calvary Cemetery. By sundown, which is roughly about 8:15p.m., the crew lights up the sky with an array of pyrotechnics.

People are encouraged to arrive early in order to get good parking. They are also encouraged to bring sunscreen, hats and long sleeve shirts to protect against the sun if they plan to do daytime activities. Currently, Southern Arizona has been under a heat advisory.

Bringing folding chairs is also encouraged.

At 10 a.m. on the Fourth of July, a parade is schedule on G Avenue.

Also on the 4th, DJ Tech FX will play from noon to 4 p.m.

Following DJ Tech, the Tucson-based band Ritmo Suave will play from 5p.m. to 10 p.m.

There will also food vendors, craft vendors, jumping castles, water slides and prizes.
