The Douglas City Council has scheduled a meeting for Wednesday, August 8, 2007 in the Council Chambers.


The Study Session will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the regular meeting will begin at 4 p.m.

In the meeting the council will discuss:

ˆ Approval of third reading of ordinance 07-909, which amends the city personnel rules and regulations.

ˆ Approval of 07-505, which authorizes an agreement to sell property located at the corner of 11th Street and Pan American Avenue to Sueno Americano Foundation, a Michigan not-for-profit corporation, to build offices for the Mexican Consulate.

ˆ Approval of third reading of ordinance 07-911, which authorizes the sale of about 37,800 square feet of real property located east of Pan American Avenue between 11th Street and 12th Street.

ˆ Approval of third reading of ordinance 07-912, which authorizes the sale of the Douglas Municipal Golf Course located at 1372 East Fairway Drive to MT Development LLC pursuant to the terms and conditions of the agreement of purchase entered into the by the parties to operate as a golf course with public access in perpetuity.

ˆ Approval of second reading of ordinance 07-913, which authorizes the city to accept the donation of property from Thelma A. Gross located at the northeast corner of 15th Street and Louis Avenue.

ˆ Approval of first reading of ordinance 07-914, which levies upon the assessed valuation of the property within the city, subject to taxation, a certain rate upon each one hundred dollars of the valuation sufficient to raise the amount estimated to the required in the annual budget and providing funds for general municipal expenses.

ˆ Approval of first reading of ordinance 07-915, which changes the Ward 5 polling station from the Douglas Police Department to the Visitor's Center.

ˆ Approval of resolution 07-499, which approves the city's faηade improvement grant program to provide an opportunity for business and commercial property owners to improve the appearance of building facades and storefronts in the Douglas historical district.

ˆ Approval of resolution 07-503, which authorizes the mayor to renew an intergovernmental agreement between the city and the Housing Authority of Cochise County to combine resources to share the position of Housing Rehabilitation specialist for FY 2007-2008.

ˆ Approval of resolution 07-504, which authorizes an addendum to leases WRO 92-6 and WRO 92-7 between the city and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to extend the terms of the leases for an additional five-year period for placement of surveillance camera towers.

ˆ Discussion to accept the annual audit report from Cronstrom, Osuch & Company for the year ended June 30, 2006.

ˆ Discussion to approve the Douglas Fiestas Committee to sponsor the Douglas Fiestas n September 14th, 15th, and 16th and approve their request for a special event liquor license during the festivities.

ˆ Discussion to demonstrate agreement and support the Douglas Port of entry feasibility study-95 percent submittal prepared by the US General Services Administration.
