Ellen Whitehead of McNeal, a member of the Cochise County Youth Orchestra, rehearses with the group in preparation for their lunchtime performance of fiddles tunes at the Sierra Vista Fiddle Contest. Many young orchestra members will also be competing in the youth divisions this year. Area residents are invited to attend the 3rd Annual Sierra Vista Fiddle Contest on Sept. 22, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Veterans' Memorial Park. Admission is free. All are welcome to bring a lawn chair or blanket and be prepared for an exciting day of great music featuring the "Orange Blossom Special Blowout Competition." Fiddlers from all over the Southwest will compete for trophies and $3,000 in cash prizes. Buena Bands will provide food concessions and there will be many items for raffle, including two acoustic/electric guitars. Proceeds from the contest benefit the Cochise County Youth Orchestra. Rain location will be Buena High School Cafeteria. For more info call 220-1166 or visit www.dkmusicstudio.com/fiddlecontest.
