Sierra Vista Cancer Center will host the Survivor Celebration Brunch at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, to be held at the Copper King Baseball Field, 15th Street Park, on Saturday, October 6. The event kicks off at 10am. Brunch will be offered to all cancer survivors and their guest during registration and throughout the morning.

"Undergoing cancer surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy can be a taxing experience for patients and their loved ones, and it is important to recognize everything they have overcome," said Sanjeev Gopal, M.D., Board Certified Medical Oncologist / Hematologist and Clinic Director of the Sierra Vista Cancer Center. "We feel hosting this brunch in their honor is a small a way to celebrate their lives."

Relay for Life is a fun-filled overnight activity that mobilizes communities across the country to celebrate survivorship and remember those who lost their lives to cancer. It is organized by the American Cancer Society, as well as local volunteers, and serves as a major fund-raiser toward cancer research. The money raised at this event will help fund programs and activities in the Douglas area.

According to Alvina Hoyack, Douglas Relay for Life Survivor Chair, approximately 50 local survivors, as well as numerous teams, sponsors, families and individuals, are expected to participate in the 13th annual event.
