Sirens and speeding Douglas Police and Department of Homeland Security vehicles made their way through residential areas of the community early Friday morning.

A vehicle, a red pickup truck without headlights, driven by an illegal alien apparently sped through the port and wound its way through Douglas at about midnight on Friday, September 28.This is one of many border "runners" that have been involved in high speed chases over the last several months.

The smell of rubber and overheated engines could be smelled throughout the area.

The chase snaked its way throughout town.

The strange part was that you now only saw the border jumper and law enforcement vehicles racing, but also saw a string of other vehicles tailing them, apparently wondering what was going on.

Sometime during the half hour chase through town, law enforcement lost the vehicle.

This information is based on eyewitness reports.

Information was not made available from the Douglas Police Department.
