The Douglas Unified School District announced the assignment of Leanne Marston, District curriculum director, to cover Huber Middle School as administrator until the current situation has been resolved.

Former principal George Watkins was removed from his position last week over question about misappropriation of funds. He has approximately three weeks to appeal the decision before he can be terminated.

Marston has extensive experience as a school administrator, and she will be available to address any questions or concerns parents may have.

“During the past few days , Huber Middle School has run very well due to the efforts of the outstanding staff there. They have all been hard at work to ensure that programs and activities run smoothly for both students and staff,” said Superintendent Gail Zamar.
