SIERRA VISTA — Whether they’re finishing school or looking for a change, hundreds of job seekers will be meeting employers at the county’s largest career fair Oct. 25.

Local colleges and other schools will also be present, in addition to about 60 employers, including the Tucson Police Department, Perot Systems, Citi Financial and more, said Mary Tieman, project manager for Cochise County Workforce Development.

The businesses are diverse and so are the types of positions employers are looking to fill.

“Many of the employers have numerous job openings,” Tieman said.

There isn’t a dress code or requirements for the free event. It’s meant for anyone, she said.

But to stand out to employers, Cochise College career development specialist Andrea Hernandez recommends that those looking for work come prepared by bringing plenty of resumes, dressing appropriately and having meaningful questions for employers.

The college’s career experts suggest job seekers bring at least 30 resumes that include contact information. Researching companies beforehand for background information is also important.

Prospective employees also should consider creating a list of questions for employers and be prepared to answer questions about their own career goals.

For advice on interviewing skills or resume help before the fair, people can contact the CCWD, Tieman said.

The career fair is hosted by the Cochise County Workforce Development and co-sponsored by Cochise College, Army Career and Alumni Program, Army Community Service and DES Job Service.
