‘Spooktacular’ Halloween Carnival today at Castro Park

Castro Park is being taken over by witches, monsters and all other sorts of Halloween doings during the 'Spooktacular", from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Halloween night.


The event is sponsored by The Daily Dispatch, the city of Douglas, Douglas Recreation Department, Southwest Gas, Bordermart, Food City, H&R Block, Wells Fargo, Safeway, Cochise College, FRV Metals, Sonic/Pizza Hut, Brown and Page, Southern Arizona Auto, Chiricahua, Adair Funeral Home, and APS, U of A South.

The event will feature games such as Swamp fishing, Guts and Glory, and Oh, Rats, all designed for children ages 0-12. There will also be jumping castles, food booths and a Trick or Treat Village.

All kids will get a chance to go through the village once and get candy and prizes. The first 500 kids through the gate will receive free bag of candy.

There will also be a costume contests. Prizes will be presented for first, second and third.

There will also be several new decorations at the park this year. including a haunted house and ghost display.

More than 2,000 pounds of candy and 2,600 other items will be given away during this third annual event.

Downtown Trick-or-Treat

Youngsters have the opportunity to dress up in their costumes and trick-or-treat on Wednesday, October 31, beginning at 4:30 p.,m.

The event is sponsored by The Daily Dispatch and participating merchants.

Be sure to look for the "Trick or Treaters welcome sign" in merchants windows.
