Douglas native wins Rocky Mountain Emmy awards for editing, directing

At the 2007 Rocky Mountain Emmy Award Ceremony early October, Erick Moreno of Douglas won two Emmy awards in a video editing category and a category in directing for post production

The awards were received for two television news stories that were produced for KTAZ Telemundo Phoenix and KHRR Telemundo Tucson.

The emmy is the highest honor that can be given to anyone working in the television industry.

Moreno is the technical director, editor and a producer at the Telemundo Phoenix station. He graduated from Douglas High School in 1996 and from The University of Arizona in 2003.

While completing his bachelor’s degree in media arts, he worked on various video production projects and soon began working at the Telemundo Tucson station. He was promoted to the Phoenix market in 2004.

Moreno is the son of Jesus Hector Moreno and Maria Jesus Moreno, residents of Douglas for 27 years.

He thanks his parents and the rest of his family for their support, love, and encouragement. He also credits the work and dedication of all his former teachers and mentors, especially those who helped him in his early school years in Douglas
