Taste of Home Cooking School invites you to come to Douglas High School Auditorium on tomorrow, Wednesday, November 14, when The Daily Dispatch hosts an evening demonstration of “Great Gatherings”. The only coast to coast traveling cooking show in the country, Taste of Home Cooking School’s nine culinary specialists are ready to stir up a cornucopia of vibrant fall recipes. Packing spatulas, spoons and seemingly all but the kitchen sink in her van, each culinary specialist will drive hundreds of miles to share preparation tips, plating techniques and palate-pleasing meals.


Ticekts are still available for only $5 at The Daily Dispatch, 530 11th Street, or at the Auditorium beginning at 5 p.m. that night. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. abd the show begins at 7 p.m.

Come harvest ideas for your next gathering as Culinary Specialist Jamie Dunn blends ingredients to create a selection of recipes for both small get-togethers and large celebrations. We know people who come to our cooking schools love to cook and love to eat great food, so every recipe prepared on stage will be given away at the end of the demonstration.

Dunn will begin the show with Bountiful Brunch Gatherings. A trio of delectable recipes will include an “Almond Crumble Twist, “Tropical Bran Muffins” and “Ham and Cheese Strudel”. A Complete Meal In Minutes segment will follow with recipes showcasing shrimp, baby mixed greens and carrots plus an impressive brownie recipe that will make family or friends think you fussed all day..

During intermission attendee names will be selected to receive special door prizes. Your name might be drawn to receive the new Taste of Home Baking Cookbook. Our affiliation with the publishers of “Taste of Home” magazine provides us the opportunity to offer this complete baking cookbook to 3 lucky winners.

You will be welcomed back to the stage preparation with a taste of Kraft Kitchens. Kraft’s versatile Philadelphia Cream Cheese will be featured in a warm chili dip, a peanut butter delight and a festive tiramisu bowl. If you are looking for a reduced-fat recipe, Kraft’s’ “Updated Shepherd’s Pie” will provide a satisfying entrée for cold weather meals. Mom’s Best Meal follows with “Golden Glazed Turkey Breast” and “Zesty Potatoes with Sour Cream and Chives.” providing inspiration for autumn entertaining menus.
