Gas prices vary across the county

According to the Cochise College Center for Economic Research’s latest  biweekly survey of gas prices, conducted during the week of December 3, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Cochise County increased  to $3.00 from $2.99 over the two-week period. According to AAA Arizona, the statewide price decreased from $3.02 to $3.01. Nationally, according to the Energy Information Administration, gas prices dropped from $3.10 to $3.06 during the two-week period.

In Benson, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline increased slightly from $3.06 to $3.07 per gallon. In Bisbee, the price stayed the same during the two-week period at $2.97 per gallon. The price in Douglas rose from $2.97 to $2.98 per gallon. In Huachuca City, the price increased from $3.03 to $3.04 per gallon. In Sierra Vista, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline went down from $2.96 to $2.95 per gallon. In Tombstone, the price remained the same during the two-week period at $2.98 per gallon. Willcox saw gas prices increase from $2.98 to $3.02 during the two-week period.

One year ago, the nationwide average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline, according to the EIA, was $2.30, which is 76 cents lower than its current price. At the state level, according to AAA Arizona, the price a year ago was $2.28, which is 73 cents lower than the current price per gallon. At the county level, according to the CER survey, the price a year ago was $2.26, which is 74 cents lower than the price from the most recent survey.
