Local students get bachelor’s degree at Western New Mexico University

SILVER CITY- Some 200 degrees will be conferrred at the Western New Mexico University Fall Commencement Ceremony to be held on Friday, Dec. 14, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center Theatre. The keynote speaker will be Howie Morales, Grant County Clerk and WNMU alumnus.

The Registrar’s Office reports 57 associate degrees, 99 bachelor degrees, 22 master degrees, 17 master of art in teaching degrees and five master of business administration degrees will be conferred at the ceremony.

Douglas, Ariz. resident earning a bachelor of applied science degree in criminal justice is Nikole Escarcega. Earning a bachelor of sciencie degree in psychology is Anissa Varela.

WNMU is a state coeducational institution offering programs in vocation, liberal arts, and proffesional areas which can lead to vocational certificates, associate, bachelor and masters degrees. WNMU is a past recipient of Quality New Mexico’s Zia Award, the organization’s top award for performance excellence.
