Road construction

The City of Douglas will be working on various projects over the coming week.  The work is being completed by the City of Douglas Public Works Department and is part of the Mayor and Council’s ongoing infrastructure improvement program.

On Hold - The City of Douglas Sewer Rehabilitation Phase I Project began in March 2007.  Due to the extent and scope of this work, certain streets and alleyways may be closed and therefore alternate routes will be implemented.  We will notify adjacent property owners on a weekly basis when these periods will occur.  Water and/or sewer services will be affected for short periods of time.  Please call Mr. David Gonzales at 234-1817, if you have questions.

Monday, December 17th through Friday, December 21st, concrete work will continue in the areas of 8th Street to 6th Street from Los Angeles to Rose Avenue.  Curbing, gutters, and sidewalk concrete work will also continue from H Ave to Pan American Avenue between 10th and 11th Streets.

Water main extension continues on North Douglas Avenue and State Route Highway 80.  Please be alert to possible street closures and detours.  Fire Hydrant maintenance and water system maintenance continues throughout the city.  Caution should be taken when driving or walking near or around an area where city personnel are flushing & testing fire hydrants.

There will also be other miscellaneous concrete repairs, pothole patching, and graffiti cleanup throughout the city.  If you should have any problems with water and/or sewer services on the weekend or a holiday, please contact the Douglas Police Department at 364-8422 and staff on call will be dispatched to your residence.  The City of Douglas asks that you please use caution while driving or walking through these construction zones.  Please help keep everyone safe.
