“For the Love of Music” will present, on Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16 concerts by Musica Sonora, a vocal ensemble of 16 musicians specializing in Early Music. They call this program for the holidays “With Mirth and Good Cheer: a Traditional English Christmas”. Musica Sonora will present a lively mix of “a cappella” selections, instrumental offering and songs accompanied by a variety of instruments — flute, recorder, guitar and viol. The program will include traditional English carols and other seasonal works both medieval and modern.

Christina Jarvis is the director of Musica Sonora. She is a specialist in historic vocal and harpsichord performance, having studied in London with members of the Hilliard Ensemble, Trio Sonnerie, The Consort of Musick, and with Nigel North. Featured performers in the Bisbee concerts will be Molly Holleran, soprano, James Callegary, tenor, Mark Jarvis, baritone, Barbara Else, flute and recorder, Gonzalo Molano, guitar and Fred Reinagel, viol. Bisbee concert goers may remember Molly Holleran from her performances at the Bisbee Woman’s Club as part of the Tucson Chamber Musicians, and Christina and Mark Jarvis from their performances last Spring with the Bisbee Community Chorus.
