BISBEE — People will be able to recycle computers, televisions and other electronic devices in Tucson on a monthly basis starting Saturday.

People can bring the items to Eastside City Hall at 7575 E. Speedway Blvd., on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Two additional collections will be held at 1102 W. Irvington Road on Feb. 2 and at the park and ride parking lot on Ina Road one block west of Oracle Road on March 1.
“It is going to be the first Saturday of every month, and we are going to be rotating those three sites,” said Mike Rohrbach, chairman of the Cochise County Learning Advisory Council.
The Learning Advisory Council, a nonprofit in Bisbee, helped set up a western operation for American Retroworks Inc., a company based in Middlebury, Vt., that specializes in electronics recycling.
Rohrbach said at first the materials will be taken to a warehouse in Bisbee.
“We will be selecting some things which can be easily re-sold in the U.S. market,” he said.
“Then the bulk of the material will be sent to a factory located 40 miles south of Douglas in Sonora, Mexico.”
Recycling events were held on Earth Day in Sierra Vista over the past two years. Three years ago another Earth Day event was held in Bisbee.
Rohrbach is hopeful that more regular events will be held in Cochise County in the future.
“We have reached out to Tucson, and Tucson has accepted our offer to participate in these events, and we are still looking to Cochise County to set up a similar program,” he said.
