Transfer station still accepting Christmas trees for recycling; concrete works continues throughout city

The Transfer Station is still accepting Christmas trees for recycling until the 19th of January. Residents are reminded to remove all tinsel, decorations, nails, and tree stands from the tree before recycling them.


In other city activity, from Jan. 14 to Jan. 18, city workers will continue with concrete work in the area of 8th Street to 6th Street, from Los Angeles to Rose Avenue.

Curbing, gutters, and sidewalk concrete work will also continue from H Avenue to Pan American Avenue, between 10th Street and 11th Street.

Asphalt works is in process on Chino Road. Motorists should be alert to detours.

Water main extension continues on North Douglas Avenue and State Route Highway 80.  Please be alert to possible street closures and detours.  Fire Hydrant maintenance and water system maintenance continues throughout the city. Caution should be taken when driving or walking near or around an area where city personnel are flushing & testing fire hydrants.  

There will also be other miscellaneous concrete repairs, pothole patching, and graffiti cleanup throughout the city.  

If you should have any problems with water and/or sewer services on the weekend or a holiday, please contact the Douglas Police Department at 364-8422 and staff on call will be dispatched to your residence.  The City of Douglas asks that you please use caution while driving or walking through these construction zones.  Please help keep everyone safe.
