On January 13 Banuett was at a home on the 1200 block of 23rd Street. There, he had provoked a fight with the man he had attempted to stab.
During the course of the evening, as the first victim was leaving the home, Banuett confronted him, which led to a fight. During the fight Banuett attempted to stab him with a kitchen knife.
At that time, a second man tried to separate them and in the process he became Banuett’s stabbing victim. As the second victim turned to walk away, Banuett stabbed him multiple times on the left side of the head, left ear, left and right shoulders and stomach.
Afterwards Banuett returned to the home, but was told to leave. Banuett left the house, running in an eastbound direction. Police were unable to find him that night.
When the police arrived they found the stabbing victim bleeding. He was transported to the hospital.
A week later, on Jan. 20, Banuett walked into the police department and turned himself in to the authorities.
