Two Douglas men were arrested Saturday in connection with more than 200 pounds of marijuana.

DPS drug sniffing canine, Becky, helped nab two Douglas men trying to transport more than 200 pounds of marijuana.

Brandon Arevalo, 22, and David Jimenez, 21, were both arrested by the Department of Public Safety.

At about 10:44 a.m. a DPS officer stopped the white 2000 Dodge pickup truck that the suspects were driving. The report did not indicate who was driving the truck.

The driver was traveling 81 mph in a 75mph zone, the DPS report stated.

The officer saw indicators of criminal activity and so he used Becky, a drug-sniffing canine, on the truck. Becky made a hit on the truck; the truck was then transported to the Sierra Vista DPS office, where the bed of the truck was opened. Officers found 206 pounds of marijuana.

Both Arevalo and Jimenez were arrested and transported to the Cochise County jail in Sierra Vista.

Becky has been in service since August 2007 when she graduated from the canine training program.  She has located several drug loads since that time.

Becky was named for fallen DPS Officer, Donald Beckstead who was shot and killed February 7, 1971 by prison parolee Bertram Greenberg.

Greenberg killed a second DPS Officer, James Keeton, that same day and later kidnapped and killed another person during the chase before New Mexico authorities shot and killed him.

Obviously you feel the need to criticize former DHS students, but from the lack of correct punctuation and grammar, it's apparent that wherever you got your education from didn't do such a great job with you, either... "

" How many times does a DPS officer stop somebody for going 81 mph on a 75 mph zone? How often do they carry a drug sniffing dog? When there is a "snitch" that's when. "
