PHOENIX (AP) — A new poll shows the race between Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama in the Arizona presidential primary is close, while Republican John McCain is apparently leading Mitt Romney in their party’s nomination contest.

The Phoenix-based Behavior Research Center poll was released Friday. It found that Clinton led 38 percent to 32 percent over Obama among Democrat likely voters, with John Edwards trailing at 16 percent.

The Clinton-Obama difference was just under the poll’s margin of error of 7 percent for that subgroup of voters.

McCain led Romney, 39 to 26 percent, with a margin of error of 7 percent for Republican likely voters.

Mike Huckabee had 9 percent and Giuliani 6 percent.

The poll was conducted Monday through Thursday with telephone interviews of 628 voters statewide.
