Learning how to use the computer is now considered one of the most important skills to have. Virtually all types of transactions are conducted using the computer, especially through the Internet.

The Douglas Public Library will be offering a variety of computer classes to the community.

The Douglas Public Library is offering computer skill classes, which will be available starting Jan. 28.

Erik Moreno, who has taught the class before, will be teaching it again. He is a student at Cochise College who is currently working toward his degree in Computer & Information Systems.

“We are thrilled that Erik can teach the classes again and truly appreciate Cochise College’s commitment to providing this wonderful service for the Douglas community,” said Victoria Yarbrough, the librarian at the Douglas Public Library.

The classes are very basic and are designed for users with very little or no experience with computers, Yarbrough said.

Signing up for the classes is highly encouraged as those who sign up will be given priority on the library’s thirteen public computers.

Anyone who owns a laptop with a wireless Internet connection is welcome to bring their computer and does not need to sign up.

The computer classes will be offered both in the evening on Mondays and in the morning on Tuesdays at the library.  Evening classes will begin at 7:00pm; morning classes will begin at 8:30am.

The classes will be offered in English but the person teaching is bilingual and able to help anyone who might need explanation in Spanish.

All Microsoft Office classes will be taught using the Office 2003 version.

Please sign up by calling the library at 364-3851 or asking in person at the circulation desk.  The schedule will be as follows:
