New paintings exhibit Saturday at CSP

An exhibit of “New Paintings” by Michael Cadieux will open at Central School Project Saturday, February 9. The opening reception will be from 7:00-10:00 pm in the Ida Power Gallery of the historic Central School facility, 43 Howell Ave., Old Bisbee.


Michael Cadieux has taught painting and art history for the University of Montana, the University of Arizona, Arizona Western College, the Kansas City Art Institute and, most recently, at the Douglas campus of

Cochise College.

He has had in over 75 one-person, solo, competitive and invitational shows across the country, most recently at the Tang and Central School Project galleries in Bisbee, and the Dinnerware and Raices Taller galleries in Tucson.

His work has received numerous awards and grants, including two Andrew Mellon Faculty enrichment grants, two Outstanding Educator of American awards, and a U.S. Office of education grant to lecture, study and tour India. In addition, he has been an artist-in-residence at a Nature Conservancy preserve in southern California.

His articles and reviews have appeared in a variety of publications, including Ceramics Monthly/, /Artspace/ (Los Angeles), /New Art Examiner/ (Chicago), and /Southeast Asia in Review/. In addition, he has lectured and given papers at several colleges and universities, including The School of the Visual Arts in New York and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. His work is represented in numerous private and corporate collections, including Cellular Business Systems, Amoco Productions and the Saudi Royal Family.

Following the opening reception on February 9th, the exhibit will be open to the public from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, Fridays through Sundays, February 19th - March 2nd.
