Gas prices down across the county

According to the Cochise College Center for Economic Research’s latest biweekly survey of gas prices, conducted during the week of January 28, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Cochise County decreased to $2.94 from $2.97 over the two-week period. According to AAA Arizona, the statewide price dropped from $2.97 to $2.88 per gallon. Nationally, according to the Energy Information Administration, gas prices decreased from $3.07 to $2.98 during the two-week period.


In Benson, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline dropped from $3.07 to $3.05 per gallon. In Bisbee, the price decreased during the two-week period from $2.96 to $2.91. The price in Douglas dropped from $2.97 to $2.90 per gallon. In Huachuca City, the price decreased from $2.97 to $2.94 per gallon. In Sierra Vista, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline went down from $2.91 to $2.88 per gallon. In Tombstone, the price increased slightly during the two-week period from $2.91 to $2.92 per gallon. Willcox saw gas prices increase from $3.02 to $3.03 during the past month.

One year ago, the nationwide average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline, according to the EIA, was $2.17, which is 81 cents lower than its current price. At the state level, according to AAA Arizona, the price a year ago was $2.26, which is 62 cents lower than the current price per gallon. At the county level, according to the CER survey, the price a year ago was $2.18, which is 76 cents lower than the price from the most recent survey.
