What are the issues that are important to you in this election?

The Daily Dispatch will be distributing forms at The Daily Dispatch, Douglas Public Library and the Douglas City Hall asking those very questions.

Copies of the form will also be published over the next few weeks in The Daily Dispatch and can be seen today on Page A8.

The form asks citizens for the top five issues the new mayor and council should address when they take office.

“Everyone has an opinion on what is important for the city, but do we really know? Just because I may believe roads and curbing is the vital issue this year, people in Wards 4 and 5 may think its increased law enforcement, or caring for the community’s elderly or better street drainage,” said Larry Blaskey, Editor and Publisher of The Daily Dispatch.

“Your opinions are important to us and will be to the new mayor and council. How can one prioritize a budget, construction projects or grant money needs without having a grasp of what is important to the people they serve?”

The survey also asks residents for either their Ward or approximate address (1800 block of 6th Street) so that issues are not only looked at overall, but concerns Ward by Ward.

The form will be included in Sunday’s edition of The Daily Dispatch, and need to be returned by Friday, February 29, at 5 p.m. to The Daily Dispatch, 530 11th Street, P.O. Box H, Douglas, AZ  85608.

The answers may also be submitted via email to  editor@douglasdispatch.com.
