Border Patrol agents from the Tucson Sector arrested a group of 85 illegal yesterday, who were trying to get past the border area east of Douglas.

At about 3 p.m. agents assigned to the Douglas Station spotted fresh tracks along the Geronimo Trail and began to follow them. Once they encountered the group, agents began to interview them about their illegal crossing. All 85 members of the group were males.

The aliens told agents they had crossed in search of work in the United States, due to recent factories closing down in Mexico for unknown reasons.

They traveled from the Mexican states of Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, Aguas Calientes and Michoacan with the original members of the group leaving for the U.S. from Guanajuato on Monday, February 11.

The group was transported to Agua Prieta, Sonora by bus, over a 24 hour period. From there, they crossed with guides, who stayed with them till just before they were apprehended. The illegal aliens were headed for several parts of the U.S. Once they were processed, the group was voluntarily returned to Mexico.
