Early Learning Center

The Early Learning  Center will begin pre-registration for preschoolers, on Friday March 28,  and will continue every Friday from 9:00am to 11:00am and 12:00pm to 3:00pm.


Children should be 4 years old before September 1st. 

Required documents at registration are: an original official state birth certificate, immunization records, and 3 (three) proofs of residence,(these are documents with your name and physical address)  Individuals with questions may call the ELC office at 364-8473 or 364-2447 ex. 5000.

Pre-registration will not begin on Friday March 21st, as originally anticipated. This is during Spring Holiday and the school will be closed. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Ms. Hernandez and Ms. Alma – 4 year olds

We are talking about the sequence of numbers, and learning the positional words between and above and also learned front and back. We are practicing the first letter of our names, and are tracing it. We are practicing cutting on lines with scissors, we cut out our monthly February shape; a heart. We also read the story “The Bears on Wheels” to help us learn and visualize the positional words, and Elmo loves you, focusing on the shape.

Ms. Diana and Ms. Elena – 4 year olds

This week we are learning about “Community Helpers”

Monday children will learn about the baker and the different kinds of bread, color, shape, size ,etc. We also learn about the bread people eat in different parts of the world. Monday children will make a baker’s hat using different shapes like rectangles, circles and squares. Tuesday children will learn about the “mail carrier” and learn about the job and duties that this community helper has. They will make an envelope and learn how to write a short letter to a friend and send it by mail.

Wednesday children will learn about the librarian and his or her duties at the library Children will make and decorate a book mark with abc’s and numbers. Thursday children will work on year book page form February of 2008.  

Ms. Susie and Ms. Romero– 4 year olds

Our class will be reviewing numbers and letters on Monday.  Tuesday we will be reviewing our vowels and our consonants.  

Wednesday we will be reviewing upper and lower case letters and on Thursday we will be reviewing patterns.  Thursday we also have Pink Celebration where we bring a pink toy for show and tell, we wear something pink and we will have a strawberry shake for a pink snack! 

Ms. Sandy and Ms. Tere– 4 year olds & high school students

Our CTE/ECE high school students are learning how to write lesson/activity plans and are observing circle time to become more familiar with the activities involved.  The teachers for each period will be responsible for circle time and all students will have a hand in planning the lessons for the rest of the semester and will be creating the calendar as well.  The pre-school students will be having an action packed month in March!

Their high school buddies are planning some great literacy activities for “Love of Literacy Month”.  The subject of many of these activities is Dr. Seuss and his books.  We can’t wait to eat green eggs and ham!!

 Ms. Rios and Ms. Gonzalez – kinder

Our class has been finishing up their theme on Farms by making a book about farm animals.  This week we will be focusing on the letters S, H and F and the new sight words: The & Said.  This week the students have been learning math by using playing cards and they have learned how to play the game “war”.  Next week we start our new theme “Spring Is Here”.
