Aviation adventures at Border to Border Airshow, March 15
Aerobatics, Young Eagles’ introductory flights and tandem jumps

Published/Last Modified on Friday, March 7, 2008 2:42 PM MST

Kids and adults can witness stunning acrobatic maneuvers, “aerobatics,” and personally experience the thrill of aviation at this year’s Border to Border Airshow. The second annual event takes place in Douglas at the Douglas Municipal Airport March 15.

Professional aerobatic competitors will soar past the crowds. Daring pilots including Jim Pietz Aerosports, and Peitsch Airshows featuring Warren and Kent Pietsch will perform as well as the U.S. and Canadian Military.

Skydive North Dakota will offer tandem jumps. Kids ages 8-17 can get introductory airplane rides courtesy of the Young Eagles, an organization dedicated to helping young people discover the thrill of aviation. A 1926 barnstorming-era Travel Air bi-plane will be flying throughout the day.

A hangar dance will kick off the weekend at 6 p.m. March 14. Craig Carter and the Spur of the Moment band will provide music and guests can “Meet the Pilots” at a special mixer that evening. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to examine aircraft, talk with other aviation and have fun at the carnival rides, car and bike shows.

The Border to Border Airshow takes place March 15 at the Douglas Municipal Airport in Douglas Arizona. For more information, contact Robin Brekhus at 520-364-4481 or 520-234-3901.
