Frank Ambriz: Ward 4

Published/Last Modified on Friday, March 7, 2008 3:05 PM MST

Frank Ambriz is seeking the Douglas Council seat in Ward 4.

Ambriz has spent many years in Douglas and has been a retired Cochise County Employee for thirty years.

He was born and educated in Douglas, has two sons and loves the community.

Ambriz graduated from Douglas High School and later Cochise College. He holds a degree in Land Surveying and Engineering and NICET certification for doing highway surveys.

He has been involved with the county government for the past thirty years.

He previously was a member of Douglas Planning and Zoning Commission where he was the chairman. Currently he is a member of the Douglas Breakfast Lions, the Douglas Jaycees and the Douglas Chamber of Commerce.

Why should I vote for you? I strongly support more employment, less city government, and would be available to citizens of Douglas. I will keep in mind that elected officials serve all citizens of Douglas.

What is a primary goal you want accomplished during your four-year term, and how will you achieve that goal? Create/attract good paying jobs, focusing on four points: 1) Commercial Port of Entry, 2) Call centers etc., 3) Inspection center, 4) Expansion of Prison and Border Patrol. I will lobby and communicate with state and federal elected officials for funding.

What primary goal should the council as a whole have over the next four years? Encourage all citizens of Douglas to participate in our city government for a better community.

What unique characteristic do you bring to the Council? No conflict of interest or any government agreements due to my employment or special interest groups. I bring my bi-lingual skills and professional experiences to the table.

One area facing all communities is the Economy. What are your plans for the Douglas Economy? Jobs! My plans are to provide less city government to help local and future business and industry, to review city budget in detail, and to explore methods and how we may be able to save taxpayers money.
