TUCSON - The Douglas Bulldogs wrapped up play in the Cactus Classic Baseball Tournament Saturday beating the Buena Colts 5-4 finishing with a 3-2 record at the tournament.

In the Bulldogs game with Buena Saturday the Colts led 4-1 when the Bulldogs scored once in the fourth and twice in the fifth tying the game at 4-4.
In the top of the seventh Zaul Tapia’s base hit scored Jesus Cuevas with what proved to be the winning run.
Freshman AJ Acosta started the game on the hill for Douglas. He went four innings, gave up four runs off three hits and walked six.
Pedro Cruz threw three innings in relief and picked up the win giving up no runs off three hits while walking two and fanning three.
Douglas had six hits this game. Tapia was 1 for 4, Acosta 1 for 3; Oliver Mariscal was 2 for 3, Alexis Aguirre 1 for 3 and Cuevas 1 for 2.
In Friday’s loss to San Luis the Dogs were stymied by seven errors.
Adrian Romo and Ramon Acosta each threw three innings with Romo getting the loss.
Kyle Cormier hit 1 for 3, Tapia 2 for 4, Aguirre 1 for 3, Acosta 1 for 4, Jesus Salazar 1 for 4 and Ryan Valencia 1 for 3.
In the earlier game with Sunrise Mountain the Bulldogs trailed 5-1 after five inning of play when Sunrise attacked the Bulldog pitchers for eight runs the last two innings.
Ernesto Lopez threw three innings this game, Hector Grijalva two and Salazar one.
Valencia hit 2 for 2 this game. Romo 1 for 2, Grijalva, Salazar and Fabian Ochoa each were 1 for 3.
Douglas’ baseball coach Gilbert Rojas said his team finished in the top eight in the tournament and he saw a lot of good things.
"We’re young but overall I thought we played well with the exception of the San Luis game," he said. "There are a lot of things we can build on."
The Bulldogs, 3-3 overall, will face Cholla Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Sahuarita High School in the first round of the Sahuarita tournament.
