DPD will receive $16,199 for the equipment, said Alberto Melis, the Douglas Police Chief.
In 2007, the 100 Club awarded $168,193.09 to 14 agencies across Arizona through its safety equipment enhancement program.
These awards enable agencies to purchase safety equipment such as bulletproof vests, flashlights, helmets, Tasers and other officer safety and survival equipment.
The 100 Club of Arizona started in 1968 and is a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to public safety officers and fire fighters when they are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty.
The Taser is considered a non-lethal weapon that uses two propelled wires or direct contact to conduct energy to affect the sensory and motor functions of the nervous system and muscles, causing direct physical incapacitation.
