Representative Manny Alvarez announces that he is running for the Arizona Senate, to continue his work on behalf of rural Arizona communities.

Alvarez has served in the Arizona House since 2003, and has been fighting most of his life as a public servant. From school boards to fire boards to the Rotary Club, Alvarez has always worked hard to make life better in the community.

Alvarez understands the needs of communities, especially when it comes to protecting agriculture, property rights, creating quality schools and securing the border.

If you elect me to the Arizona Senate, I am committed to bring the same passion and ability to represent you. I ask for your support to become your State Senator.”

Since he has been in the Legislature, Alvarez has worked with other members like Senator Marsha Arzberger to protect rural Arizona He has required small water companies to upgrade their system to improve water. He has worked to prevent farmers from being held to pesticide bills that are meant for yard workers.  He has supported Governor Napolitano’s efforts to strengthen our schools and secure our border.  “The people of my communities know what their needs are, and I encourage them to share them with me,” Alvarez said. “We have to have a voice who not only knows these communities-but who also listens to people.” Alvarez is proud that all of his accomplishments are because he listens to his constituents.

He moved to Elfrida from Texas in 1956, and helped on the family farm. As the fourth of ten children, he learned how to cooperate from a young age. He was educated at Elfrida Elementary, Valley Union High School and Cochise College. He is a member St. Francis of Assisi Church in Elfrida.

During the Vietnam War, Alvarez volunteered to serve in the U. S. Army and he has been involved with veteran’ groups ever since as a member of the American Legion and VFW.

He was also a member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club.  “In my years at the Capital, I’ve acquired great knowledge of the procedures and know my way around,” Alvarez said, “This is a great asset to getting things done, and I want to continue to put that knowledge to work or you.”

" It is hard to tell if this is a paid for ad, an editorial or a "news" story.

It reads like a campaign press release and also as an endorsement by the newspaper.

Does this mean that the Dispatch is fully supporting Mr. Alarez no matter who may decide to run for the position? "
