Principals at 2 Sunnyside schools to take district administrative posts

Former Douglas resident Raul Ochoa was recently named assistant superintendent for the Sunnyside School District.

Ochoa is a 1975 graduate from Douglas High School, was known as a good athlete, playing basketball for Paul Denham and football for Ken Sawin’s football team that was a state runner-up in 1974. He received several awards as an athlete, and coached basketball in Flowing Wells High School in the 1990s.

Desert View High School Principal Raul Ochoa will leave his position as Desert View High School principal to become the district’s assistant superintendent for operations and facilities planning, said district spokeswoman Monique Soria.
